This episode is sponsored by Square. There are a few things better than a local coffee shop that knows what it's doing. I was at Northern Roots recently and noticed they use Square, and the whole checkout experience was so easy. Quick payment, text receipt, nothing awkward. When a small business has that much happening behind the counter, it's a gift when the customer side can feel easy. Square helps businesses take payments, manage staff, sell online and in person, and keep inventory synced in one place. And now, Square has even more tools like Square AI and their financial suite, which can help track spending, compare supplier prices, and set aside money for things like taxes, upgrades, or slower months. Square launched its most powerful tools yet, designed to give local businesses a competitive edge without the complexity. If you're ready to sell smarter, run faster, and stress less, right now you can get up to $200 off Square hardware at square.com slash go slash lazy genius. This episode is sponsored by Smile Generation. There are some parts of taking care of ourselves that are easy to ignore because they're not urgent yet, and the dentist can be one of them. If nothing hurts, it can feel like something to deal with later. That later has a way of turning necessary things into urgent things, and that's exactly what I'm trying to avoid. Smile Generation helps patients understand the mouth-body connection. What's happening in your mouth doesn't stay in your mouth. It can affect your heart, your brain, and your overall health. So regular dental exams and screenings aren't just about clean teeth. They're one small way to care for your whole self before something bigger asks for your attention. Brick11:54-13:43
And Brick stops that in its tracks. I have a schedule set on my Brick app for my phone where my most time-wasting apps, now those are personal to me, right? My apps that I get on and then look up and I'm like, where did the time go? Like Instagram and games and even some shopping apps, like don't get me on the Sephora app. Are you kidding me? I will be there for so long. Those apps automatically get bricked starting at 8:30 in the morning, and they don't unbrick until I do it manually. So in theory, if I don't unbrick my phone during the day, I don't really have access to apps that are not crucial, but do take up a lot of time. And that has been so amazing. I've purchased way less in the last few weeks because I don't mindlessly pop over to Sephora, as I said, or Amazon or something, and just get fed sales. And then I'm like, oh yeah, maybe I do want that thing. Like, I really don't. I also have the games on my phone bricked because if I have time to play games, I would honestly rather read if I'm going to do anything on my phone. It's not that the games or the shopping or the social media or whatever are inherently bad. But when I have access to them all the time, I get sucked into their siren song, which takes me away from the things that I care about more, which is why I brick them. Now, what's cute about Brick is if you try to open an app that is currently bricked, the screen says back to living. It's like your app is bricked. Go back to living. And it always makes me laugh. It's like a really great reminder because yes, that's exactly what I want to do. It's just made me enjoy my life more and notice things and not get sucked into the black holes of my phone.

This episode is sponsored by Vistaprint. One of the best decisions we have made behind the scenes here is choosing Vistaprint to print postcards with the 13 Lazy Genius Principles on them. Maybe it doesn't sound flashy, but let me tell you, those little postcards earned their keep. I always keep a stack on hand to tuck into signed books or to jot down a quick note to a listener, and they just feel so lovely. The paper quality is fantastic, the printing looks polished, and the turnaround time was a dream. That's what I appreciate about Vistaprint as a small business partner. You can print postcards, stickers, signage, branded apparel, packaging, all kinds of things that help your business look established without making everything more complicated than it needs to be. This episode is sponsored by R&Co. There are certain products that quickly earn permanent status. You try them once, you love them, and then suddenly they're not just yours anymore because your kid is using them too. At our house, that happened with R&Co. I started using the television shampoo and conditioner about a year ago, and my daughter Annie now uses and loves them too. R&Co was founded by a collective of world-renowned hairstylists, so the products really perform, but they still feel usable for regular life. I also love the waterfall cream to take care of frizz and Annie loves the candy stripe detangling spray because it's pink and smells great. I love it because it works. R&Co products are vegan, Leaping Bunny certified, gluten-free, color safe and made without parabens, sulfates, mineral oil or petrolatum and are designed to layer and customize whether you want air dry texture, volume or shine. One of my favorite things is shopping small and so often the difference between a good experience and a great one is the person doing the job. The right hire can make or break the whole experience, especially for a small business. That's why hoping the right people happen to see your job posting is not a great growth strategy. So instead use sponsored jobs. Indeed, sponsored jobs helps boost your post and search results so you can reach quality candidates with the skills, certifications, or location you're actually looking for. Spend less time searching and more time actually interviewing candidates who check all your boxes. Less stress, less time, more results. When you need the right person to cut through the chaos, this is a job for Indeed sponsored jobs. And listeners of this show will get a $75 sponsored job credit to help get your job the premium status it deserves at indeed.com slash podcast. You can start with one of their beautifully designed templates, Use drag and drop editing to make it feel like your own and claim your domain so people know where to find you. Here's the thing about sunscreen. The best one is the one you'll actually put on your face every morning. Primally Pure is a female-founded company I really appreciate because their approach to skincare is pretty straightforward. Fewer, better ingredients, and products that support your skin without making your routine feel like a second job. They just launched their new Sun Serum and Lip Plus Cheek Tints. The Sun Serum is a tinted mineral SPF 30 made for daily sun protection with a creamy serum-like feel and ingredients that help nourish the skin barrier. It comes in four shades, which is helpful because we are not doing the chalky sunscreen face if we can avoid it. They also launched Lip Plus Cheek Tints with light SPF 15, so SPF can stay part of your routine even when you're adding a little color on the go. Use code GENIUS to get 15% off your Primally Pure purchase. That's www.primallypure.com and use code genius at checkout for 15% off your order.

This episode is sponsored by Square. I pay attention to the small businesses in my neighborhood, especially the places where the experience feels easy and the people working there aren't fighting for their lives with the checkout system. One of those places for us is Aussie's, our local ice cream shop. It's owned by friends. I'm already happy because ice cream is involved, obviously. But I also notice how simple everything is. Like you order, you tap your card, you get your receipt, and everyone can keep moving without their ice cream melting. That's what Square helps small businesses do. Square brings payments, POS, inventory, staffing, online sales, and more together in one place so business owners don't have to juggle a million different systems just to keep the day moving. Square helps you run your business more smoothly, bringing payments, operations, and insights together in one place so you're ready for whatever's next.
