This morning's USDA farm report is brought to you by House Products tested trusted guaranteed since 1920. Where are we at with progress for various crops in the summer growing season USDA meteorologist Brad Rippey gives some of the notable news items from the latest crop progress report for the period ending August 9th. Looking at the key Midwestern states, we do have a handful where corn reaching the dose stage is at least 10 percentage points ahead of the respective five-year averages. The crop is being pushed along a little bit by the recent heat and lack of moisture. It is taking a bit of a bite out of the crop potential, I'm afraid. The soybean crop just about finished up with blooming progress on August 9th. The national number, 93%. Five-year average, 91% last year, 90%. Cotton squaring, wrapping up across the country, 93% is the August 9th number, equal to the five-year average, one point ahead of last year. The rice crop, the great majority of the crop has already headed out, 87% on August 9th. I'm Rod Bain, reporting for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. This report brought to you by Cenex Fuels and Lubes.
