Gilead Sciences / Care for the Culture8:26-9:27
Hey, it's Erica and Mila from Good Moms, Bad Choices on the Black Effect. In this mini episode, we're getting real about sex, pleasure, and HIV and other STI prevention conversations we wish we had when we were in our 20s. We share what we had to unlearn, what took so long to discover, and the advice we'd give our younger selves. Take a listen. I've had so many situations, especially in college, in Atlanta, going to dinners with people, having shots, getting in the car and feeling pressured. Literally not using my voice, shutting down, leaving my body. And honestly, I'm still working through the trauma that that has caused. Just the irresponsibility and lack of care for our bodies. Now, as someone in my 30s, my late 30s, I realize that part of empowerment is also knowing your status and your partners. It's not weird to ask someone their status. And it's not weird to demand that they give it to you because HIV is still a real conversation and we need to be having it. So getting tested regularly.
