Notion on The Talk Show With John Gruber

With the recent launch of custom agents, Notion became the collaborative AI workspace where teams and agents work side by side. And now their new developer platform is turning that workspace into infrastructure developers can build on. Notion's developer platform is really this is all sorts of platforms are moving in this direction with the MCP stuff, command line stuff. Like, it is so bananas that people keep writing to me about the way that markdown is suddenly the lingua franca of AI and how do I feel about it. And I have very way more thoughts than I can squeeze into a middle of a sponsor read. But the other thing that is so fascinating about the current moment in AI is the way that command line interfaces are have a new they never went away for developers. But now, because AI agents can use them in a great way as a it's effectively a form of automation. All sorts of tools that never had command line interfaces, but maybe could have but just never did, now have it as like a, hey, we need a command line interface. Notion has done that. It is NTN. That's pretty good. That's a pretty good name for the command line tool for Notion. Right? Just take out the vowels. NTN is their command line interface, and it can do just about anything. It can read and take action in Notion. It can manage the workers you have in Notion and deploy them through one interface built for developers and coding agents. The workers are Notion hosted sandboxes for custom code. They run the database syncs, agent tools, webhook triggers on Notion's runtime, and you don't have to do that on your own. You can just have an agent do all these things for you.
