New York Times on The Bulwark Podcast
Adam Kinzinger: The United States of Dystopia
Transcript
This episode is brought to you by The New York Times. We're always discussing New York Times stories on here. Earlier this week with Amanda Carpenter, I was really focused on the story of Gurren Bobby Joe. This is the Chinese national who put $100 million into the Trump family crypto. We don't know where he got it from. He previously had a failed flooring business. The UK was investing in him for money laundering. He ended up in the Gulf states with all Trump's Sharia law friends. And now he's throwing nine figures into the Trump family crypto kitty. It's insane. It's the kind of story that needs to be covered, that we need to bring attention to, that I always try to bring attention to on this podcast. And you need people out there doing the reporting, doing the shoe leather of the reporting to find this stuff because, you know, they're not bragging about it. All right, you gotta have a reporter out there get the goods. And shout out to our friends of the New York Times who reported out that story. The reporting that you depend on, that this show depends on, started long before the headline comes out. It's not just the Times, the other great reporting, your local newspapers doing it. We've got people at the Bulwark that are working on beats, whether that be Adrian on immigration, Jonathan Cohn on healthcare, and more. It takes time and hard work to cultivate sources, corroborate accounts, and gather all the facts and put together a story. That's what journalists do.
