Here's the secret. On iPhone 11 and newer, powering off does not actually kill the phone. A tiny trickle of battery keeps a few chips awake. One of them is Bluetooth, quietly pinging like a beacon. So anyone you've shared your location with and find my can still see exactly where that dead phone is for hours. Now, that's great news if your phone gets stolen. Not so great if you thought powering down took you off the grid. It doesn't. Want true stealth mode? On the power off screen, look right under the slider. Tap iPhone findability after power off, then temporarily turn off findability. Then slide it off. Or hey, just say where you're going to be.
